About Us

SEDSConnective is a pioneering, volunteer‑led charity that supports individuals with both symptomatic hypermobility (such as Ehlers‑Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders) and neurodivergent conditions (including Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Tourette’s Syndrome, Dyslexia and more). Founded in 2018 by Jane Green MBE, who was driven by her own lived experiences, SEDSConnective began as a grassroots effort in Sussex, UK. Since then, we have grown into a global community, offering support, advocacy, and education to thousands of members worldwide.

What will you be doing?

This volunteer role ensures that the SEDSConnective website is accessible, engaging, and aligned with the charity’s mission and goals. Experience with Wix is essential, including intermediate‑level proficiency in JavaScript and SQL, with particular experience using the Wix JavaScript library (Velo). A passion for our vision is always a bonus. The volunteer role is for a minimum of 9 months, and volunteers will be able to communicate ideally by WhatsApp in a reliable fashion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Website Maintenance – Regularly update website content, ensuring information is accurate and current. Monitor functionality, fixing issues and maintaining a seamless user experience. Manage updates to plugins, themes and other website tools.
  • Content Development – Work with the team to publish new blog posts, events and resources. Ensure the website aligns with branding and effectively communicates SEDSConnective’s vision and goals. Optimise content for accessibility, usability, and SEO.
  • Technical Oversight – Oversee the website’s technical aspects, focusing on JavaScript and SQL development within the Wix (Velo) environment. Ensure security and compliance with data protection regulations. Troubleshoot bugs or glitches, liaising with external support when necessary. Propose and implement improvements to boost functionality and engagement.
  • Collaboration – Work closely with trustees, volunteers and external partners to support campaigns, events and fundraising initiatives. Provide feedback and recommendations to the Board on potential website enhancements.
