About The Role

Role: Warehouse Operative

Location: Birmingham - James House (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Package: £23,907 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid‑for volunteering days a year.

Hours: Monday – Friday 11:30am – 8pm

Role Purpose

The role of a warehouse operative is varied and depends on the shift they are assigned to. However, the warehouse operative’s function is generically the same and may cover the following tasks or roles:

  • Goods Inwards
  • Putaway/Replenishment
  • Picking/Packing
  • Stock Checking
  • QA Despatch

Security clearance or willingness to apply will be required for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • You must perform your role, working to and ensuring the highest standard of safety as laid down in the company health and safety policy, while also paying particular attention to warehouse operating procedures, risk assessments and the Traffic Management Policy specific to the National Distribution Centre.
  • You must ensure that you adhere to the relevant procedures and processes with regard to our ISO accreditations. The processes are job specific and laid out in Sharepoint.
  • You must ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained throughout the warehouse.
  • You should ensure all paperwork is completed accurately wherever necessary.
  • Responsible to each departmental supervisor, to ensure that their work is completed to the correct standard and in a timely manner.
  • You must ensure a high level of focus and awareness is demonstrated with regard to the security of both the site and the stock holding.
  • You should maintain a good working relationship with your colleagues and promote a team‑working environment.
  • You must ensure that all dangerous occurrences and any გაუჟ damage to plant and machinery are reported to line management.
  • To undertake Health and Safety activities commensurate with post and or SCC Group Health and Safety Policy.
  • This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and other areas of responsibility may be identified by either a supervisor or management. You should be flexible enough within your position to embrace these and all other areas pertaining to the NDC functions.
Skills and Experience
  • Must be computer literate
  • Be competent in using wrist‑mounted scanning equipment
  • Ability to attain all SC Clearances
  • Possess a good work ethic and communication skills
  • Experience in a warehouse environment preferred but not essential
  • Physically fit with general computer knowledge
