Overview

Main purpose of the role
Specifically, you will have accountability for the Structured Trading Group, ensuring reliability and accountability for risk and controls, and adding value from experience in structured notes, exotic rates, and/or credit.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and execute departmental strategy in line with regional and international business objectives and entity requirements.
- Ensure day-to-day activities (including those of direct reports where applicable) align with the overall departmental strategy and meet financial and non-financial targets.
- Adhere to departmental mandates and lead/manage staff to ensure understanding of responsibilities, compliance with Firm policies, and alignment with the Firm’s values.
- Manage and monitor books of risk and associated controls within predefined risk limits; contribute to risk management and control frameworks.
- Adhere to the Trader Charter and internal policies and regulatory requirements; maintain good working relationships with stakeholders globally.
- Contribute to budget management where required and collaborate with Sales, Trading, and Research teams to develop the business globally.
- Price, trade with clients, and manage risks for structured products; strive to achieve assigned profit and loss targets.
- Enhance relationships with Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities on structured trading.
- Risk management: price accurately new transactions and risk positions, using market-leading pricing and hedging methodologies.
- Manage risks (market, credit, operational, conduct, and xVA) within the firm’s risk appetite, using advanced models and monitoring tools; ensure compliance within approved risk limits.
- Ensure business conducted in line with regulatory requirements (e.g., Volcker, EMIR, MiFID).
- Escalate issues related to risk management, regulatory risk, compliance, and operational risks as needed; protect and enhance the firm’s reputation.
- Foster franchise development where applicable and deliver a sustainable, client-focused, flow-oriented business; maximize profitability from the client franchise.
- Collaborate with Sales, Trading, and Research in MUFG International to meet client needs; work with other parts of the Group to support franchise and business growth.
- People and controls: ensure compliance with internal risk and compliance requirements; lead and manage staff as applicable to responsibilities and values.
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders across the region and globally; share best practices and support local policy development aligned with One MUFG strategy.
Work experience
- Essential: At least 3 years of working experience at major financial institutions; experience in managing significant risks in non-linear derivatives; experience in pricing complex derivatives in Rates or Hybrid products.
- Preferred: Track record of revenue generation.
Skills and experience
- Essential: Knowledge of financial markets and instruments including derivatives; good communication; strong numerical skills; proficient Microsoft Excel; diligent risk management.
- Preferred: Ability to code.
Education / qualifications
- Essential: University degree or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred: Master’s degree.
