Job summary

Detailed description

Are you wanting to make a difference and eager to lend a hand? Are you kind, compassionate and good with people? If this sounds like you, volunteering as a PA at Norwich Door to Door might be just the role you’re looking for. Our volunteer PAs are integral to the charity, providing a supportive and caring travel experience for people in need.

As a PA, you’ll have the rewarding opportunity to assist passengers who require extra help from their homes and on their journeys, ensuring their safety and comfort. Whether it’s offering a friendly smile, helping with boarding, or providing companionship during travel, your contribution will be invaluable.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a valued member of the Norwich Door to Door team, you’ll help ensure passengers have a safe and comfortable journey. Your role will include:

  • Helping passengers from door to bus – Support passengers from their homes, assist with locking up, and help them board and disembark safely
  • Ensuring passenger safety – Make sure everyone is seated securely, including those in wheelchairs
  • Securing mobility aids – Safely stow and secure walkers, wheelchairs, and other equipment
  • Supporting the driver – Assist with directions or navigation when needed
  • Staying in touch – Communicate with the office for updates or support
  • Handling fares – Collect and record passenger fares accurately

We’re seeking compassionate, reliable individuals who are ready to make a difference. You’ll need:

  • Awareness & interest in Assisted Transport – A genuine care for those who need extra support
  • Good communication skills – Friendly and patient with a positive attitude
  • Flexibility & team spirit – Willingness to adapt and help when needed
  • Physical readiness – Comfortable with kneeling, bending, and pushing wheelchairs
  • DBS check required – All volunteers must undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
