Overview Of The Department/Section
The Japanese Corporate Banking Department (London) is a front office function responsible for business development of customers located in the United Kingdom and other demarcated countries in EMEA, whose ultimate parent companies are Japanese corporates. The department handles overall customer relationships and related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountability for the named department: Corporate Banking Department (London).
- As a Junior Relationship Manager, independently manage all aspects related to customer transactions for assigned customers and support senior Relationship Manager for large clients with complex transactions, including business promotion, credit analysis/monitoring, operations, and risk management.
- Planning and Strategy Development
- Manage a client portfolio to meet commercial and risk goals.
- Collaborate with Product Partners to identify solutions that meet client needs.
- Partner with Credit and Compliance stakeholders to meet internal requirements.
- Assist senior Relationship Manager with origination and strategic business development.
- Share information and ideas with MUFG international branches.
- Develop an understanding of MUFG’s credit policy and procedures.
- Undertake ongoing training and development to build skills.
- Risk Management
- Monitor and act within delegated authority to manage risks across Corporate Banking Department (London).
- Manage all relevant risks (market, credit, operational, conduct) within the firm’s risk appetite with appropriate models and tools.
- Conduct business in line with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support Global Governance Standards with compliant policies and procedures across the department.
- Manage credit assessment flows, including applications and borrower ratings, with high-quality analysis and timely reporting.
- Regulatory Compliance, Affairs and Change
- Evaluate and establish appropriate operational and IT systems and controls to enable department functions in line with business plans.
- Controls and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal risk and compliance requirements; maintain systems and controls appropriate to the business and regulatory requirements.
- Relationship With Other Functions And Stakeholders
- Maintain and enhance relationships with stakeholders across the region and globally to share best practices and support the One MUFG strategy.
- Work Experience
- Essential: Front-office experience in Corporate Banking; experience managing credit assessments for large/medium corporates; experience in multicultural environments.
- Skills And Experience
- Functional/Technical Competencies: Corporate banking and finance knowledge; knowledge of financial products/services; advanced Microsoft Office skills; strong numerical, written and verbal communication; high accuracy and attention to detail; strong analytical skills; effective teamwork; excellent time management; business-level fluency in Japanese and English; PMO project management capability; strategic planning.

- Degree level education and relevant industry expertise.
