The role

As a Vehicle Electrician, you’ll be part of a highly skilled team responsible for maintaining and repairing the electrical systems that power military and specialist vehicles. From diagnostics to inspections, your expertise will ensure our fleet is mission-ready—making a real impact on national defence and public safety.

Day-to-day you’ll be:
  • Diagnosing faults and conducting inspections to meet production needs
  • Servicing, repairing, and overhauling vehicles and electrical equipment
  • Completing documentation and test certificates to current standards
  • Ensuring correct use of stores and returning unused or faulty items
  • Recording job transactions accurately using ERP systems

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite at Bovington. The set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week. Some travel may be required, but overnight stays will not be necessary.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Electrician:
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of modern vehicle electronics
  • Hydraulics experience
  • Experience in a dealership or local garage
  • Ability to adapt and build rapport across teams
Qualifications for the Vehicle Electric>
  • Recognised Military or Civilian training in the relevant trade discipline, or an accredited Apprenticeship
Minimum academic qualifications:
  • City and Guilds Level 1, 2 & 3 (in relevant trade)
  • ONC (in relevant trade)
  • NVQ Level 3 (in relevant trade)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
