The role

As a Vehicle Electrician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll carry out inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of military vehicles and associated electrical systems. You’ll also perform diagnostic and inspection duties, manufacture miscellaneous items, and complete examination tasks to meet production needs. This is a hands‑on role where your expertise will directly support the UK’s defence capability.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
  • Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on job cards
  • Accurately record job transactions in ERP systems and submit daily updates
  • Create job cards and demand material where ERP training has been completed
  • Complete vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates to current standards
  • Diagnose, inspect and assess vehicles and associated mechanical/electrical equipment

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

The role is based onsite at Ashchurch, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Electrician:
  • Ability to take responsibility for unresolved issues or escalations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience building effective relationships internally at various levels
Qualifications for the Vehicle Electrician:
  • Completed recognised Military or Civilian training in the relevant trade discipline OR an accredited Apprenticeship

Attained at least one of the following:

  • City & Guilds Level 1, 2 & 3 (in relevant trade discipline)
  • ONC (in relevant trade discipline)
  • NVQ Level 3 (in relevant trade discipline)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
