Vaulting & Clearing Analyst

About the role
The Vaulting and Clearing function is part of the Metals Department within Global Markets, responsible for all vaulting and clearing activities for precious metals and the governance of storage, transport and logistics for the Bank’s metal business.
This analyst will support the Head of Commodities and the Metals business, coordinating logistics and driving business changes across the bank.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivery and Execution:
- Support the Head and Deputy Head of Vaulting and Clearing on logistics and Front Office Controls.
- Coordinate with the global Metals Desk and regional product heads (Singapore, New York).
- Develop MI and perform analysis for Clearing & Vaulting operations, feeding metrics into operational resilience controls.
- Serve as the global point contact for logistics and issue resolution, developing new processes where relevant.
- Assist with management of physical loss insurance cover for metals products.
- Collaborate with Sales to support new clients and opportunities.
- Maintain high-quality client service and promptly escalate complaints or concerns.
- Ensure controls support confidentiality of bank and client information.
- Oversee Front Office Controls across the Metals business.
- Conduct & Culture:
- Comply with all Anti‑Bribery and Corruption laws, regulations and policies.
- Ensure Anti‑Money Laundering compliance.
- Uphold the firm’s values and adhere to ICBCS standards, principles and best practice.
- Escalate significant regulatory or compliance issues promptly.
- Ensure mandatory training is completed.
- Operate within SLAs of the Standard Bank Group.
- Control access to MNPI to authorised individuals.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Experience in a regulated environment, ideally financial services.
- Knowledge of the Metals business, including Physical, Vaulting and Unallocated London Clearing.
- Exposure to inventory systems with a control‑based mindset.
- Understanding of Precious Metals logistics, import/export logic and shipping processes.
- Experience managing financial risks and establishing internal control environments.
- Proven ability to identify and build new business opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with stakeholders and clients.
