Job Overview

Permanent vacancy for a Band 4 to 5 progression Clinical Pharmacy Technician to work within Urgent and Emergency Care. You will work in a fast‑paced, varied environment where your clinical knowledge is constantly developed to provide a patient‑focused medicines management service as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties
  • Complete detailed medication histories using a multitude of sources and reconcile with current inpatient medications, making appropriate interventions.
  • Administer intravenous and oral medications within scope of practice (training provided).
  • Advise patients on new or changed medications to promote compliance.
  • Support doctors and nurses with medication queries.
  • Assess suitability of patients’ own medications for use in the hospital setting.
  • Participate in discharge planning with ward staff and other healthcare professionals in secondary and primary care.
  • Accuracy‑check dispensed items in the main hospital dispensary or satellite pharmacy within the acute medicines unit.
  • Carry out audits of the department to ensure procedures are followed.
