Qualifications

  • Completed one-to-two-year Sonography or Ultrasound Technology certification at an accredited institution.
  • Valid ARDMS, ARRT, RDCS, or RVT registration as required by state law.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist


Department: Radiology


Reports To: Director of Radiology


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Hours: 40/week


Shift: Days with Weekend On-Call Rotation

What You Can Do For Fcmc

Our Ultrasound Technologists perform specialized exams under the supervision of a Radiologist to diagnose, treat, and care for our patients. More specifically, some of the Ultrasound Technologists’ vital responsibilities include:



  • Performing different types of ultrasounds ranging from OBGYN to Vascular

  • Assisting Radiologists with complicated ultrasound biopsies

  • Producing high quality films for Radiologists to evaluate; maintaining a high degree of accuracy in ultrasound imaging

  • Performing quality control functions related to ultrasound

  • Ensuring patient comfort and privacy and educating the patient regarding the exam

  • Completing documentation

  • Assisting in compiling and maintaining statistical data

  • Applying professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking

  • Participating in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills


Requirements

Qualifications


  • Completed one-to-two-year Sonography or Ultrasound Technology certification at an accredited institution

  • Valid ARDMS, ARRT, RDCS, or RVT registration as required by state law

  • Current CPR/BLS certification

  • Skilled in ultrasound equipment operation

  • Basic computer literacy

  • Detail-oriented and able to work as a team member

  • Willing to participate in 30 Continuing Education Units every three years


Essential Job Functions


  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

  • Regularly required to move or lift between 50-100 pounds using proper body mechanics

  • Regularly required to stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects

  • Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination is required

  • Must be able to work in a high-stress environment

  • Must comply with HIPAA to protect information that is sensitive, proprietary, or confidential

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain infection control standards set by the facility


Work Environment


  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients

  • Potential exposure to blood, body tissue, fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous waste

  • Occasional exposure to bodily injury, loud or unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, and emotional or physical stress
