You will support site-based engineering through the Joint Design Office, ensuring construction teams receive timely, robust technical responses.The role focuses on equipment scope across Nuclear Island and Balance of Plant areas, working closely with multiple stakeholders. Respond to engineering queries, non-conformances, change and exemption requests Ensure nuclear safety and environmental regulatory requirements are met Challenge design decisions to align with overall project strategy Coordinate technical support from internal and external organisations Contribute to resolution and closure of open technical points Assess technical risks and define appropriate mitigation actions Interface with construction, quality, project management and design teams Maintain strong relationships with the Responsible Designer organisation*Required Skills and Qualifications:*Though it would be great if you have experience in nuclear, it is by no means essential! If you have experience in a highly regulated environment, we want to hear from you.It is also important to know that its rare for the perfect candidate to exist. If you feel like you have 80% of the required skills, please don’t hesitate in replying. Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Experience in equipment design, installation or commissioning Background working within regulated or safety-critical industries Strong understanding of construction and installation practices Knowledge of CDM requirements Awareness of welding engineering principles Clear communication within multidisciplinary engineering teams This role offers a rare balance of mechanical design involvement and site-based delivery on one of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects.
