Carers Trust Solihull is seeking a new Trustee Treasurer to help lead our next chapter. Guide finances, drive strategy, and ensure every pound transforms lives, supporting unpaid carers who give so much to others. A meaningful role with real impact and purpose.

What difference will you make?

The Trustee Treasurer’s work will be instrumental in ensuring the financial stability and future growth of Carers Trust Solihull. By guiding strategy, managing risk, and shaping sustainable funding, they will help us stay resilient and responsive to rising demand. Ultimately, their leadership will protect and strengthen the lifeline our charity provides to carers across Solihull, ensuring every resource is used effectively to make a lasting difference.

What are we looking for?

The ideal Trustee Treasurer will combine strong financial expertise with a deep commitment to supporting unpaid carers and strengthening community impact. They will bring both strategic insight and practical understanding, helping the Board make confident, well‑informed decisions about the charity’s future.

The most important skill is sound financial management. You’ll need to understand budgets, management accounts, and financial reporting while ensuring the Board has clear, accurate information on which to base its decisions. While a formal accounting qualification (such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) would be an advantage, it’s not essential; what matters most is the ability to interpret financial data, assess risk, and communicate complex information clearly to non‑financial colleagues.

The role of the Trustee Treasurer will be hands‑on, including regular, concise reports to the Trustee board; financial reports; coordinating the annual budget‑building process with managers; contributing to strategy; preparing the annual accounts for independent audit; oversight of the charity's Bank accounts; and contributing to applications for funding.

You will also bring experience of financial governance, ensuring compliance with charity law, accounting standards, and reporting requirements. A good understanding of charity finance and reserves management is desirable, or a willingness to learn quickly.

Strategic thinking and curiosity are key. We need someone who can look beyond the numbers to the bigger picture, identify opportunities, spot risks early, and help shape a sustainable future for the charity. You’ll support the development of our financial strategy, guide investment and reserve decisions, and advise on how to use limited resources best to maximise our impact.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are equally vital. You’ll work closely with the CEO, team managers, and other trustees to foster trust and transparency. Collaboration and clear communication will help ensure that financial information informs and empowers the Board, rather than overwhelms it.

We’re also looking for integrity, empathy, and a genuine connection to our cause. You don’t need prior experience with carers’ organisations, just an understanding of the pressures unpaid carers face and a desire to help make their lives easier.

Ultimately, our ideal Trustee Treasurer is someone who blends professional skill with human insight. This steady, thoughtful leader can ensure that every decision we make strengthens the lifeline we provide to carers across our community.

What will you be doing?

Carers Trust Solihull stands at a turning point. For over twenty‑five years, we’ve been the backbone for thousands of unpaid carers, spouses, parents, siblings, young carers, and friends, who give everything to care for someone they love. Now, with a new five‑year contract from Solihull Council, we’re entering our strongest and most ambitious chapter yet. Demand is rising, expectations are higher, and the need for clear, confident financial leadership has never been greater. This is a moment to secure the future of carers’ support in Solihull and shape how our community stands behind those who give so much.

After 12 years of dedicated service, our Treasurer is retiring, having secured continued significant funding for five and potentially 9 years. We are seeking a new Trustee Treasurer to help steer us through an exciting period of change, restructuring, and development as we reach out to ever more carers with information, advice, or support needs.

We’re looking for someone ready to build on our strong financial foundations, champion innovation, and ensure every pound is transformed into lasting impact for carers and their families.

As Treasurer, you’ll lead on all financial matters, joining the Board of Trustees. You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with the CEO, senior managers, and bookkeeper to oversee budgets, forecasts, and economic strategy. You’ll translate numbers into meaningful reports, helping guide decisions on sustainability, reserves, and growth, ensuring our resources always serve our mission.

This is more than governance; it’s influence, purpose, and legacy. You’ll help shape and support our expansion and protect the lifeline we offer to unpaid carers across Solihull. Your expertise will fuel our ability to innovate, diversify income, and meet new challenges, including the opportunity of Artificial Intelligence.

Join us and become part of a compassionate, forward‑thinking board united by one goal to ensure no carer is left unsupported. Volunteering to work for the trust will allow you to make your financial expertise count, not just on balance sheets, but in real lives changed for the better.
