A community volunteering organization in Uckfield is seeking a Treasurer to maintain financial records and assist with financial decisions. The ideal candidate should have bookkeeping experience and relevant qualifications. This role can be partially done remotely, making it perfect for retired professionals or part-time workers. Involvement with financial transactions and ensuring completeness of end-of-year records are key responsibilities. Support from the outgoing treasurer will be provided during the transition.
Wealden Volunteering was founded over 30 years ago by the community for the community.
Our award winning centre, originally named Uckfield Volunteer Centre, provides an invaluable community hub serving Uckfield and the surrounding area. As of 2024 we re-branded to become Wealden Volunteering to reflect our growth, as we now cover Crowborough, Heathfield and Hailsham.
Our primary role is to match people wanting to volunteer with charities or community groups needing help. As well as helping people with volunteering, we also provide local information such as bus timetables, a photocopying & laminating service, and replacement hearing aid batteries to name a few. In addition, we support community groups and local charities, who are our members, by providing networking events and training.
The centre is run by a dedicated team of volunteers.
We have an upcoming vacancy for the role of treasurer at Wealden Volunteering.
If you have experience as a bookkeeper or accountant you may be exactly the person we’re looking for. Duties as treasurer will include:
Knowledge of Quickbooks and online banking would be useful, but not essential as our outgoing treasurer will be here to assist with the change over, and help you get used to our system.
This role can in part be performed remotely, however it is recommended that you attend our Uckfield office which is open regularly on four days of the week. The hours required can vary with the time of year, with the end of the financial year usually a little busier.
The position is ideal for a retired bookkeeper or accountant looking to keep a hand in the community and utilise their skills, someone working part-time, or someone with the relevant qualifications looking to gain experience for a foothold in the industry.
