Following on from the success of the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project (SZC) in Suffolk is the UK’s next nuclear power new build project. The project has obtained planning approval and has started construction works. It has recently achieved Financial Investment Decision (FID) meaning that all the funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place guaranteeing the full delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We are seeking a Technical Engineering Manager - Transverse to be part of the Engineering and Technical function within the Civil Works Programme. You’ll be responsible for the technical aspects of the end‑to‑end design and detailing process in their specific scope area.
The Technical Engineering Manager – Transverse role will focus on topics that are transverse across Main Civils Works - Nuclear Island (NI) and Conventional Island & Balance of Plant (CIBOP), Ancillary Works and Earthworks and Enabling Works as directed by the Head of Civil Engineering Programme working with other respective Transverse TEMs and Subject Matter Experts (e.g. geotechnical).
In this role, you’ll take the lead in bringing together the us (Sizewell C Client) and the Responsible Designer, ensuring their inputs, requirements and expectations are fully aligned. You’ll drive technical change control, oversee the technical assurance process to guarantee high‑quality delivery and act as a central connector across key technical stakeholders – including EDF Nuclear Services Engineering, the Sizewell C Design Authority, the Responsible Designer and our Level 3 Design & Detailing supply chain.
You’ll also work closely with Technical Engineering Managers across interfacing scopes, creating clarity around ownership, responsibilities and cross‑discipline coordination. Backed by Programme Engineering Managers and Project Managers, you’ll play an important part in keeping technical delivery cohesive, controlled and on track.
