Transport Assistant in Hythe

We are partnering with a well-established transport operation in South Kent to recruit an organised, detail orientated Transport Assistant. This is a hands‑on role directly supporting the current Transport Manager with day‑to‑day tasks that are listed below. The successful candidate will also have the chance to sit there Transport Manager's CPC (funded by the company).

Role Overview
  • Coordinate and schedule workshop jobs, ensuring all parts and consumables are available to keep work on track
  • Maintain an organised, safe, and well‑stocked workshop, overseeing tools, equipment, and materials
  • Support mechanics and workshop staff with hands‑on tasks as required
  • Conduct routine vehicle and truck inspections, ensuring compliance documents, checks, and records are up to date
  • Schedule and monitor regular maintenance, reporting any issues to the Transport Manager
  • Assist drivers with defects, breakdowns, or other vehicle issues, including occasional support outside standard hours
  • Act as a key link between the office and workshop teams to ensure smooth communication and efficient job progression
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, document preparation, and photocopying
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by the Transport Manager
Requirements
