Job summary

A leading care provider in Scotland is seeking a Trainer in Children's Residential Services to deliver engaging training and support the professional development of staff. You will be responsible for maintaining high training standards and ensuring compliance with legislation. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of children's services and effective communication skills. This full-time, permanent role offers a salary between £35,000 and £40,000.

Qualifications

Trainer – Children's Residential Services (Learning & Development Partner)

Location: Scotland – home‑based with regular travel and occasional overnight stays

Contract: Full‑time, Permanent

Hours: 9:00 – 17:30 (40 hrs per week)

Salary: £35,000 — £40,000 (DOE)

CareTech Community Services, established in 1993, provides support for people with complex and challenging behaviours associated with autism, learning disabilities, mental health illness, and neurological conditions. We aim to enable residents to live as independently as possible, whether in their own homes or in residential care.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver engaging, practical training across key areas including Safeguarding, Behaviour Support (Pillars), First Aid, Medication, CSE & MFH, and more.
  • Welcome new staff and upskill existing team members to the highest standards.
  • Design and refine training content in partnership with the wider L&D team.
  • Maintain training records using the Myrus system.
  • Stay current with legislation, best practice and emerging trends.
  • Act as a Subject Lead, driving excellence and safe working practices.
  • Promote CareTech’s values of equality, diversity and outstanding care in all activities.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong knowledge of children’s residential services, legislation and best practice.
  • Expertise in mandatory training areas within residential care.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • High standards of professionalism, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
  • Relevant training/teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience as a trainer.
  • Experience managing resources.
