Job Description
  • As a Trainee CTV Master you will act as the company representative on board the vessel and, under the direction of the vessel Master, will transfer wind turbine technicians, and other passengers, to offshore windfarms as well as undertake cargo operations.
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel on board, conducting regular safety drills and promoting a positive safety culture, alongside the following duties:
  • Undertake safe and efficient navigation, manoeuvring and operation of the vessel
  • Adhere to the company Safety Management System, ISM code and applicable shipping rules and regulations
  • Complete the annual Master review, periodical inspections and maintenance of the vessel and its equipment in accordance with maintenance procedures
  • Deliver a professional service from start to finish when transferring technicians and maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders
  • Undertake on‑board administration, recordkeeping and reporting to the office
  • Undertake training as applicable and conduct and participate in emergency drills to ensure people on board are prepared to respond to emergency situations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the vessel and assist engineers with vessel maintenance as and when required
  • Lead and manage the vessel crew, providing training and guidance as needed
  • Undertake instructions from the shoreside management team
Experience
  • Previous experience as a Deckhand on CTVs
  • Previous experience as a Master on similar sized vessels

Technical skills
  • Navigate and manoeuvre the vessel safely and efficiently.
  • Competent with all practical aspects of day‑to‑day activities carried out on a vessel including mooring, anchoring, bunkering.
  • Knowledge of routine vessel maintenance including maintenance of firefighting equipment and Life Saving Appliances (LSA).
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems and their maintenance, including diesel engines, generators and ancillary engine room systems.
  • Ability to operate technical equipment on board, such as navigation systems, communication devices, and engine controls.
Misc
  • Able and willing to work from any site in UK and Europe
  • Maintain good housekeeping (clean, tidy and organised)

  • Masters <200 GT (STCW II/2 or II/3 Masters 200 code Vessels) (RYA is not accepted)
  • MCA Approved Workboat Stability Course
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Passport – must be valid for travel to the UK and EU
  • STCW basic safety training certificates (not older 4 years):
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting STCW A-VI/1-2
  • Elementary First Aid STCW A-VI/1-3
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities STCW A-VI/1-4
  • ENG1 Seafarer medical – Fit for lookout duties must be ticked Yes
  • In case of non-UK issued CoC’s, a British Certificate of Equivalent Competency (CeC) is mandatory.
