A local law firm in Wakefield is seeking a Trainee Archivist to join their archiving team. The role involves safe storage, retrieval of confidential documents, and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines. Applicants must have a full driving licence, strong organization skills, and a proactive approach. Full training will be provided. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Archivist to work within our busy archiving team. Primarily based at our Wakefield Office but with the need to commute to the firm’s other offices and off-site storage facilities.
The successful applicant will assist the Archiving team in the safe storage, filing and retrieval of confidential documents in line with service legal agreements and the disposal of documents in accordance with SRA guidelines.
They will assist with internal and external archive and file retrieval requests whilst ensuring compliance of the firm’s data protection and GDPR requirements.
Parts of the role are physically demanding and include periods of lone working and lifting and carry boxes for distribution and/or storage. Applicants will be required to demonstrate the ability to create and maintain electronic records and work on their own initiative as well as to take directions from others. Good communication, organisation and time management skills are essential.
Previous archiving/records management experience is not essential as full training will be provided. Experience of working in a legal environment is desirable.
Applicants must have a full driving licence and have the use of a car to commute between the office and off-site storage sites.
