Location: Deptford SE14

Salary: Up to £38k P/A depending on experience.

About the Role

We are seeking an organised, proactive, and experienced Traffic Controller to join our waste management operations team. You will be responsible for the efficient scheduling and coordination of our fleet, ensuring all waste collections, deliveries, and exchanges run safely, smoothly, and on time. This is a key operational role and requires someone who has previous experience working within a waste management company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate daily vehicle routes for Roll On/Off, Skip, and other waste fleet vehicles
  • Monitor driver progress throughout the day and make real‑time adjustments
  • Liaise closely with drivers, customers, and site teams to resolve issues quickly
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation and company policies
  • Maintain accurate digital and paper records, including job sheets, route logs, and compliance documents
  • Support operational efficiency by maximising productivity and minimising downtime
  • Communicate any delays or service issues to customers professionally and promptly
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a waste management company is essential
  • Strong understanding of waste logistics, vehicle types, and service requirements
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle reactive situations
  • IT‑literate, with experience using routing or scheduling systems (preferred)
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and confident decision‑making
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
