Trading Underwriter – Property & Casualty – New Business

Location: Birmingham, England, United Kingdom

Overview

Do you thrive on building broker relationships and underwriting commercial risks? This role is a great opportunity for someone with a background in broking or underwriting who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will play a key part in delivering Aviva’s strategy and building Aviva’s reputation as the insurer of choice.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new business for a portfolio of brokers and customers across the Midlands, aiming to profitably grow their commercial book of business.
  • Use data insights to deliver whole customer solutions.
  • Conduct regular broker visits (travel required).
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams within the SME team.
Qualifications
  • Previous P&C underwriting experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and present effectively to brokers and customers.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, confident in face‑to‑face meetings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a large, complex organisation.
  • Good knowledge of FCA regulations and relevant legislation.
