Job description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join our vibrant and dedicated planning team, with the opportunity to work flexibly with our agile working approach. We are looking for someone who is passionate about planning and developing their own client base, working on projects across sectors including retail, residential, education and energy.

Location: Manchester / Leeds / Birmingham / Bristol or Milton Keynes. You will join a market-leading, multi-national company at a hugely exciting time following our rebrand as part of the Tetra Tech Planning family. You will have opportunities to work across multidisciplinary teams and gain invaluable experience with mentoring and support to further your career.

Your Role

We work on behalf of both public and private sector clients, and we are proud of our diverse range of projects providing you with opportunities to broaden your horizons and develop your skillset across planning. We provide advice across the spectrum of development schemes, from initial feasibility studies and site visits, through to the submission of large-scale planning applications and appeals. We have strong local and national networks and a collaborative team culture. This will see you working closely with colleagues across our northern team, with opportunities to work with any office across the country. This, combined with the quality of service we provide to our clients, is what makes us consistently one of the top planning consultancies in the UK.

Working across the team’s diverse project base, you will be responsible for preparing site appraisals, development plan representations, submitting planning (and other) applications and appeals and advising clients generally. As a commercially minded individual you will be supported in developing your own client base and taking the lead on projects with budgetary accountability. Tetra Tech is a multidisciplinary organisation, and you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with multi-skilled teams on larger proposals.

Requirements
  • RTPI accredited Town Planner with proven experience in a similar role or looking to step up. You may be presently working in a local authority, consultancy or for a developer or housebuilder. You will be capable of managing a varied workload and be confident taking on the responsibility for the day-to-day management of concurrently running projects.
  • Key skills and experience include: delivering reliable technical input in a timely and efficient way; being a team player with good people skills and the ability to work directly with clients; enthusiasm, energy and the ability to work under your own initiative to meet client expectations and help expand our business; excellent communication skills for working with multi-skilled teams internally and externally; and a positive, can-do attitude.
Our way of working

We take pride in delivering projects effectively for clients. This often requires colleagues to be together— in offices or on site—to ensure the best outcomes. When possible, we also advocate for flexibility around how, when and where you work. There is no single approach; each team manages their own way of working. Meeting up with colleagues and clients face to face in office environments or on site is important for collaboration, appraisals and development.

Inclusion

At Tetra Tech, we want everyone to feel like they truly belong. Our goal is to create a workplace where every person is valued and respected for who they are. Everyone is welcome at Tetra Tech. Opportunities and success should be determined by attitude, capability and collaborative spirit. Be yourself, without apology.
