Responsibilities

  • Service mould tools for use in the Production department.
  • Maintain and test mould hot runner systems.
  • Disassemble and reassemble moulds.
  • Perform metal polishing and fault identification.
  • Respond to tool breakdowns and execute timely repairs.
  • Advise on new tooling projects and design improvements.
  • Manufacture fixtures and spare parts for tooling.
  • Maintain high standards of record keeping and housekeeping.

Skills

Experience servicing and repairing injection mould tools
Ability to identify mould vs. process-related faults
Skilled in metal polishing and tool assembly/disassembly
Proficient in using internal systems and maintaining documentation
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Job description

Aptar is seeking a Toolmaker based in Leeds, UK. This is a fully onsite role working 42 hours per week across a rotating shift pattern (12-hour day shifts, Monday to Sunday).

As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for servicing and repairing mould tools to ensure optimal performance in our production environment.

As a Tool Maker, you will:
  • Service mould tools for use in the Production department
  • Maintain and test mould hot runner systems
  • Disassemble and reassemble moulds
  • Perform metal polishing and fault identification
  • Respond to tool breakdowns and execute timely repairs
  • Advise on new tooling projects and design improvements
  • Manufacture fixtures and spare parts for tooling
  • Maintain high standards of record keeping and housekeeping (including 5S)
  • Use internal software such as Mattec, and Microsoft tools
  • Collaborate with the team to drive continuous improvement initiatives
Who We are Looking For:

We’re seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented individual with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and demonstrates sound decision‑making based on data.

Education
  • Toolmaking apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
Required Skills
  • Experience servicing and repairing injection mould tools
  • Ability to identify mould vs. process‑related faults
  • Skilled in metal polishing and tool assembly/disassembly
  • Proficient in using internal systems and maintaining documentation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in injection moulding
  • Background as a Tool Maker or Tooling Engineer
  • Familiarity with injection machines
  • Experience in high‑pressure manufacturing environments
