Job summary

A community school in the heart of the Rhondda Valley is seeking an enthusiastic Temporary Teacher to lead classes for Years Two to Four. The successful candidate will have leadership responsibilities and a strong understanding of the Curriculum for Wales. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a supportive environment with a caring staff and picturesque surroundings, starting January 2026.

Qualifications

Temporary Teacher - Penrhys Primary School

Salary: Teacher Payscale

Location: Penrhys Primary School, Heol Pendyrus, Tylorstown, Rhondda Cynon Taf, 01443 730037

Number of Pupils: 77

Hours: 32½ per week

Contract period: 1 January 2026 – 31 August 2026 (temporary, subject to review after Summer Term 2026)

Penrhys Primary School is situated in the heart of the Rhondda Valley. With picturesque views and a happy, caring staff, we are proud of our community school and would like to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and diligent teacher, who will also have the added responsibility of becoming an Area of Learning and Experience Lead.

Key responsibilities:

  • Teach a mixed class of Year Two, Three and Four children.
  • Lead a small team of Learning Support Assistants.
  • Plan and deliver well‑planned, high‑quality learning experiences daily.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Secure knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to forge positive relationships with children, staff, parents and the Governing Body.
