Job summary

A leading composites firm in the UK is looking for a sales specialist to drive sustainable financial growth through supporting existing customers and developing new opportunities. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of advanced composite technology, field sales experience, and excellent relationship-building skills. You will work closely with Sales Administration, undertake technical advice tasks, and maintain customer accounts, all while ensuring compliance with company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain & grow sales of company products across designated accounts.
  • Action new leads in a timely manner, including inquiries from the website.
  • Prepare quotations and offer technical advice as needed.
  • Communicate clearly on behalf of SHD customers.
  • Act as a liaison between Sales and Technical Departments.
  • Provide support cover on export and compliance activities.
  • Liaise with Planning, Purchasing and Despatch.
  • Work in accordance with Quality and Health and Safety procedures.

Job description

Work Times: 9:00am to 5:00pm (Monday to Friday). A degree of flexibility will be needed at peak periods.

Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support and drive sustainable financial growth for SHD in its core UK market, through pro‑active support of existing customers, developing new opportunities, and working in conjunction with SHD Sales Administration processing customer purchase orders as appropriate.

Person Specification

In this role, you will be selling the products and services that our customers have grown to rely on.

You will need a good understanding of advanced composites technology, experience in field sales or a technical role, good relationships building skills and an ability to work effectively alongside Sales Administration and with other functions such as, Manufacturing and Technical. Self‑disciplined, proactively working to support and communicate well with both internal and external customers, some travel will be expected.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain & grow sales of company products across a range of designated and important SHD accounts across the UK
  • Action new leads in a timely manner including new enquires received through the SHD website or directly to general sales e‑mail address (monitor, capture enquires, process as appropriate).
  • Prepare quotations and offer technical advice (with support of SHD Technical Department as necessary).
  • Prepare detailed visit reports and communicate clearly on behalf of SHD customers as appropriate.
  • Act as an administration liaison point between Sales and Technical Department, to ensure all customer technical enquires are captured (logged) and responded to in a timely manager (Re-life’s, Fabric spec Permits, technical enquires).
  • Provide support cover on certain export and material compliance activities (to be defined).
  • Keep up to date with latest company developments
  • Liaise with Planning, Purchasing and Despatch where necessary to ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Work in accordance with the Company Quality and Health and Safety procedures at all times.
  • To undertake any other duties from time to time as can be reasonable requested by the company.
