A leading specialty bakery group in the UK is looking for a Quality Front Line Manager to oversee product quality and food safety standards. You will lead and develop the QA team, manage quality incidents, and ensure the site remains audit-ready. The Quality Front Line Manager plays a key role within the Technical function, working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Production to ensure products consistently meet quality and food safety standards. You’ll oversee product quality throughout the manufacturing process and ensure full compliance with company Quality, Compliance & Technical procedures. Acting as a leader within the QA team, you’ll champion best practice, support audit readiness, and drive a culture of continuous improvement across the site.
In this role, you’ll lead the day-to-day quality performance across the site, supporting and developing the QA team to maintain high standards at all times. You’ll manage quality incidents, non-conformances, concessions and customer complaints, ensuring thorough investigations, effective corrective actions, and long-term improvements.
You’ll coordinate the internal audit programme for GMP, HACCP verification, and the site QMS—making sure actions are completed and the site remains audit-ready. You’ll oversee product quality assessments including shelf-life testing, taste panels and QAS checks, reviewing trends and escalating risks when required.
You’ll also lead traceability exercises, compliance checks and mass balances, as well as cross-functional investigations into food safety issues. Day-to-day, you’ll manage calibration and performance of key equipment (e.g., metal detection, x‑ray, probes, pH meters), ensure adherence to process controls, and support customer audits and technical queries with accurate documentation and clear communication.
