A leading appliance retailer in Bolton is seeking a Technical Platform Principal Lead to set the technical direction for their D365 and Azure platforms. You will oversee technical standards, manage a team, and drive governance and cost optimization while ensuring secure operations. The role requires strong leadership and expertise in Azure and D365 technologies, alongside a commitment to operational reliability and compliance.
As our Technical Platform Principal Lead, you’ll set the technical direction and day‑to‑day standards that keep our Microsoft estate secure and scalable. You’ll lead the D365 & Azure function defining the roadmap, establishing controls, and ensuring alignment across solution architecture for D365 Finance & Operations (F&O) and D365 WMS/SCM. Partnering closely with programme leads, you’ll own the technical standards, procedures, and controls across our Azure and D365 platform whilst driving governance, integration, automation, and cost‑aware decisions that enable secure, agile operations at scale.
You’ll lead the D365 and Azure technical team, ensuring clear priorities and strong delivery. Your focus will be on maintaining stable operations while driving change, owning the full environment lifecycle from development to production. You’ll define integration architecture, implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure readiness for SIT and UAT. Monitoring and performance will be key, using Azure tools to provide proactive visibility and automation. You’ll also manage technical services and apply FinOps principles to optimise cost and performance.
You’re a clear, confident communicator and people leader who sets transparent expectations and measures what matters. You think critically, challenge constructively, and improve ways of working. With proven expertise in Azure governance, automation, and operational reliability, you bring hands‑on knowledge of D365 F&O and WMS/SCM and strong instincts for configuration versus customisation. Delivery‑focused and comfortable with SDLC and release procedures, you design with security and compliance in mind—applying RBAC, PAM, MFA, secure‑by‑design principles, and GDPR/UK DPA requirements.
When it comes to appliances and electricals, we’ve got the lot. Washing machines? Yep. TVs? Check. Laptops? Absolutely. Everything except doorbells (just kidding, we’ve got those too).
