We are looking for a Technical Manager responsible for managing compliance and quality assurance across Furniture, Upholstery, Accessories, and Textiles to ensure products are safe, high-quality, and meet regulatory standards across global markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting into the Director of Product, the Technical Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of compliance and quality assurance for Furniture, Upholstery, Accessories, and Textiles categories, including the following responsibilities:

  • Define and manage product compliance requirements and testing programmes.
  • Review and approve product briefs, technical drawings, specifications, materials, instructions, and labelling.
  • Maintain technical documentation and declarations of conformity.
  • Oversee product testing (including transit and drop tests) and resolve non-compliances.
  • Support product development, sales, and customer service teams with technical advice and issue resolution.
  • Liaise with suppliers to improve quality, resolve claims, and ensure compliance accountability.
  • Lead market compliance programmes (UK, EU, USA, Canada, Asia-Pacific – China, Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand) and manage third-party compliance partners.
  • Oversee supplier audits and manage chemical/hazardous material compliance (REACH, TSCA, VOCs).
  • Support sustainability initiatives and provide data for customer compliance (FSC, SEDEX, EUDR, Lacey Act).
  • Manage communications with the Leadership Team/key stakeholders on all compliance and quality-related matters.
  • Manage and supervise the Senior Lighting Technologist.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a seasoned compliance expert capable of owning and leading the compliance and quality assurance across our product range. The ideal candidate would have:

  • Proven experience in product compliance and quality assurance in Furniture/Upholstery/Homewares, with a strong focus on issue resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of international product standards and testing protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders/leadership team.
  • Strong sense of ownership and initiative
  • Experience with supplier management and global regulatory frameworks.
