A leading healthcare provider in Exmouth seeks a Registered Nurse/ODP Band 6 Team Leader to manage the Day Surgery Unit. This role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care, leading a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring safe surgical procedures. We are looking to appoint a Registered Nurse/ ODP Band 6 Team Leader to work 28.5 hrs per week (3 x 8 - 6pm) on a fixed term/secondment basis. The post holder will work with the Day Surgery team to provide a high quality, safe service for patients who are undergoing a surgical procedure. This will include leading the team who are responsible for the safe admission, surgery, recovery and nurse led discharge of our day case patients. The post holder will be responsible and accountable for organising and enabling the team to deliver care to adult surgical patients without direct supervision. The post holder must adhere to Trust policies and procedures and be able to lead the multidisciplinary team within the Day Surgery Unit. They should also participate in the training of students and the professional development of all team members.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, dedicated Registered Nurse or ODP to lead our Day Surgery Unit. The successful candidate will manage the implementation of individual care programmes for patients undergoing surgery as part of the team within the Day Surgery Unit. You will need to have the flexibility to support the other Day Surgery Units in Heavitree and Tiverton if required. The successful applicant will have experience in supporting a team to deliver high quality care in a professional and friendly environment. This will include admission, nurse led discharge, airway management for the recovering patient, anaesthetic support and theatre support with all the necessary training/support given by the Clinical ODP Manager and Clinical Educators. Exmouth DCU also offers prep for surgery clinics.
This post requires enthusiasm, motivation, excellent communication skills and a commitment to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team. It will also allow a great work life balance as there are no unsociable hours i.e. weekends, bank holidays or nights.
