Leading role at a leading Chartered Accountancy Firm expanding due to new client wins. Seeking experienced Tax specialist with proven people management/leadership skills to join as Tax Director.

Responsibilities

• Client Management and Delivery – Lead the delivery of all aspects of corporate tax assignments for a diverse portfolio of clients; set timescales and budgets; strengthen client relationships through strategic insights.
• Technical Expertise and Advisory – Manage detailed technical research on complex tax issues; prepare advice on complex tax matters; identify and capitalise on tax planning opportunities.
• Review of Complex Cases – Review complex corporate tax cases, providing clear and actionable feedback to junior and senior staff.
• Team Leadership and Development – Mentor, coach, and guide junior team members; conduct internal training sessions; enforce firm procedures and foster a supportive work environment.
• Thought Leadership and Innovation – Identify areas for improvement in compliance processes, propose and implement technology‑enabled solutions, and collaborate on innovative client solutions.
• Business Development and Networking – Be the primary contact for colleagues and clients, secure new opportunities, and act as an ambassador for the firm at client and industry events.
• Risk Management and Compliance – Identify operational, financial, and reputational risks; ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and risk management procedures.

Qualifications

• CTA qualified or equivalent experience in corporate tax.
• At least 8 years of experience in a corporate tax role with significant exposure to complex tax issues.
• Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax compliance, planning, and advisory services.
• Proven ability to review complex tax cases with high accuracy and technical proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of accuracy in reviewing tax returns and other deliverables.
• Previous line management experience with the ability to guide, mentor, and develop junior staff.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with tax software such as AlphaTax preferred.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to make effective business decisions.
