Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Working with other teams as required to fully assemble, manufacture and integrate all systems, including software configuration and calibration.
  • Working to create a repeatably good delivery of all our driver‑in‑the‑loop simulators.
  • Carry out and record results of unit testing following current processes.
  • Operating simulators as required, e.g. demos and acceptance testing.
  • International travel for installation and service visits to customer sites.
  • Assisting with customer support.
  • Any other tasks that may arise.
Essential
  • Base knowledge of computers; including internal hardware components, operating systems and applications.
  • Computer system testing and fault finding.
  • Computer software, system setup and configuration experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Attention to detail.
Desirable
  • Simulator operation, configuration and development.
  • Knowledge of audio equipment, routing and system setup.
  • Knowledge of projection systems.
  • General electrical and mechanical knowledge/background.

What role could the candidate be performing currently?

A computer assembly and configuration technician with experience building computers, installing operating systems, applications and configuration of the overall system. Primarily they would be working in the installation and configuring of systems.

Learning more of the specific application of computer, vision and audio systems within driver‑in‑the‑loop simulators. The opportunity to be involved in and learn the mechanical and electrical aspects of the simulator and become more broadly skilled within the manufacturing department.

  • Setting up of simulator systems (connecting cables, PC racks, PC peripherals and other systems).
  • Software installation, setup and configuration.

  • Cabin system assembly. Set up driver controls, steer motors, instrument cluster and rear view displays.
  • UK and international travel for system installation and commissioning of the full system on the customer site.
  • Completion of support tickets as and when required.
  • UK and international travel for system problem solving at customer sites.
  • Cross‑skilled development programme into other teams, such as mechanical assembly and electrical assembly.
