Job description
Job purpose

We are looking for qualified SEQ Level 2 (or equivalent) swimming teacher to join our team at Ellesmere Primary School during term time, teaching all ages from Nursery up to Year 6.

Swimming lessons schedule

Swimming lessons currently take place on a Monday- Thursday along with sessions after school (3.15 – 4.15pm) Monday and Tuesday.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Have the ability to communicate well with young children
Main duties/responsibilities
  • Deliver swimming lessons for children from Nursery to Year 6
  • Make sure safety standards are followed at every session
  • Ensure Safe provision of all swimming equipment and make sure it’s used correctly
  • Deliver group and one to one swimming lessons (may also involve getting in the pool with them)
  • Develop swimmer’s techniques by identifying ways to improve their performance
  • Maintain accurate records on all swimmers as required by Ellesmere Primary School
  • Create a fun and positive swimming environment whilst always remaining professional
  • Evaluate the lessons and give feedback / demonstration of accurate swimming techniques
  • Any other duties that would reasonably be expected of the post holder
The individual must have:
  • Flexible and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of the expectations of Health and Safety within a swimming pool
  • Works constructively and efficiently as part of a team, whilst being able to use their own initiative
  • Contributes to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
  • Lifeguarding qualification preferable but not essential as training will be given
Professional Conduct and Development:
  • Participate in the school’s appraisal and professional development programs
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, pupils, and other relevant staff
  • Uphold the school’s ethos, policies, and practices
  • Maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality
