Salary

£32,363 to £34,429 (Discretionary range to £39,592) per annum.

Location & Working Hours

Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Oxfordshire, based onsite / some home working available

Full time / Flexible hours considered.

About the Role

We now have an opportunity for a Survey Technician to carry out initial and ongoing survey and alignment tasks plus component measurement for the Diamond accelerators and beamlines. The role will involve the use of CMMs, Laser Trackers, Laser Scanners and Total Stations to achieve sub‑millimeter accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out metrology and inspection tasks on engineering components using a range of measurement instruments.
  • Setting out geometric reference datum points for accelerator and beam line installation.
  • Carrying out dimensional surveys of the diamond survey network to enable best‑fit adjustments to be computed.
  • Carrying out pre‑alignment tasks on accelerator and beam line components using the 3‑dimensional measuring systems.
  • Surveying and adjusting the position of accelerator and beam line components during installation to ensure alignment tolerances are achieved.
About You
  • HNC/HND level technical qualification or equivalent or a Mechanical engineering apprenticeship, along with practical experience precision component inspection.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings.
  • Competent in the use of computers and Word, Excel.
Experience Desirable
  • Familiarity with Work Planning and Safe Systems of work.
  • Machining and manufacturing techniques.
  • Working within QC/QA systems.
  • 3D CAD software.
