About The Role

We are recruiting for a Support Worker to join our Supported Accommodation programme based in Inverness.

Supported Accommodation Inverness provides 24‑hour accommodation for care experienced young people aged 16‑26 who are leaving care or at risk of homelessness.

The Support Worker will provide support in a person‑centred manner meeting the needs of the young people that we support as well as providing emotional and practical support which is aimed at nurturing essential life skills and promoting independence.

This is a maternity cover post for a period of 9‑months.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Develop positive, respectful and compassionate relationships with the people we support, focusing on their strengths and aspirations as individuals.
  • Develop life skills with those we support, including how to maximise income, involvement in meaningful activities, budgeting, shopping, cooking and any other skills that aidto independence.
  • Assist the people we support with engaging and integrating into the local community and helping them to become active citizens.
  • Utilise support plans to record and assess the progress of the people you are supporting.
  • Prepare and review risk assessments for the people we support.
  • Promote involvement in the improvement and development of the programme from the people we support.
Shifts

Shifts are worked on a 4 on, 4 off basis:

2 x 9am to 9pm

2 x 6pm to 11pm, sleepover till 8am, one waking hour till 9am

We’re looking for someone that has an understanding what people are going through when facing homelessness and how this affects their day‑to‑day lives, as well as the effects of trauma. We also need you to have a compassionate nature, be non‑judgemental and you will be an excellent communicator and be able to build trusting relationships with the young people we support.

What you can expect from us
  • You will report to the Senior Support Worker.
  • Your normal working hours are an average of 31.5 waking, plus 1.75 sleep‑in shifts per week, worked Monday to Sunday in shifts defined by your line manager on a rolling rota.
  • Your usual place of work will be Old Perth Road, Inverness, IV2.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 280 hours (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro‑rata in your first year, rising to 310 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro‑rata in your second year. This includes public holidays.
  • You will automatically be enrolled into the People’s Pension in the month that you will complete 3‑months of employment, providing you meet the auto‑enrolment criteria.
