Job description
Supplier Relationship Manager

Hybrid working – 3 days per week from home. Location: Salford Quays, Manchester. Contract: Permanent. Salary starting from £60k per annum, dependent on experience. Full‑time: 37.5 hours per week.

You will help our UK support functions deliver exceptional standards of customer service and patient care, enabling our customer‑facing colleagues to provide outstanding care every day.

Responsibilities
  • Onboard suppliers post‑contract award and manage them against Bupa’s Supplier Management Framework.
  • Lead regular governance review meetings with strategic suppliers, reviewing performance against contracts, SLA performance, cost reductions, continuous improvement opportunities and service quality.
  • Ensure suppliers fulfil FCA compliance (where applicable) and manage supplier risk profiles to mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Undertake due diligence and assurance reviews, resolve operational and service incidents with root‑cause analysis, and implement process improvements.
  • Drive the category strategy, collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to innovate, improve efficiencies, pursue business development opportunities and generate additional value.
  • Lead internal reviews with key stakeholders to identify business needs, translate them into relationship development plans, and implement continuous improvement plans focused on service, cost, risk, and flexibility.
  • Instigate and develop action plans to remedy poor supplier performance, managing them through conclusion and ensuring smooth implementation of service improvement projects.
  • Conduct market scanning and benchmarking to monitor the supply market, ensure competitiveness and shape the category strategy.
  • Provide regular management information reports and updates to business stakeholders at all organisational levels.
Qualifications
  • Experience managing suppliers under FCA (SYSC 8/13) and PRA handbook requirements.
  • Experience in supplier assurance or audit.
  • Knowledge of working with and managing outsourced Service Providers.
  • Good knowledge of supply‑chain processes and improvement tools.
  • Professional procurement or risk‑management qualifications.
  • Strong understanding of risk‑management frameworks and compliance activities.
  • Experience of contract terms and conditions, especially drafting schedules.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a record of value‑based delivery.
  • Analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex topics efficiently and at all organisational levels.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships at all levels.
