Job Overview
  • Responsible for the day‑to‑day operational running of an imaging department or modality.
  • Providing professional leadership to registered and non‑registered staff.
  • Ensuring provision of a comprehensive, efficient, relevant and cost‑effective radiology service within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring the highest and equitable standards of quality, patient safety and clinical governance are adhered to, ensuring a high standard of clinical care is delivered to all patients at a local level.
  • Act as the lead specialist radiographer for a designated area providing highly specialist radiographic services.
  • Direct line management of area/section leads, establishing and maintaining effective structures and systems of control for staff management, including recruitment, appraisal, development and support of organisational HR policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for equipment and asset management within your area.
  • Responsible for regulatory compliance for your area.
  • Authorised signatory for delegated budget.

The Radiology Directorate has a well‑established Governance Agenda which includes modality user group meetings on a quarterly basis. The aim of the user groups is to improve our patient‑centred service by encouraging collaborative working, discussing service‑patient concerns, reviewing training strategies, reviewing/updating knowledge of relevant policy, procedure and protocol, and contributing to the audit and clinical effectiveness agenda.
