Job summary

An independent English language school in the UK is looking for a Summer EFL Teacher to teach international students aged 9-17. Summer EFL Teacher - 8 UK centresElac Study Vacations

We are an independent school with 8 UK centres, operating for over 30 years. We run programmes teaching English language and culture to international students aged 9‑17. Our centres are located in Hayward's Heath, Bath, Horsham, Eastbourne, Nottingham, Cirencester, Berkhamsted, and run for 4‑6 weeks from the start of July.

Base pay range

Teacher basic salaries from £485 to £525 per week. Total weekly pay from £465.17 to £588.37 per week if no holiday taken. Holiday pay in lieu of any untaken holiday (12.07% of total gross salary) will be added at contract end.

Tasks
  • Contracted to work 27 contact teaching, testing and orientation hours each week. Hours may vary throughout the contract.
  • Most lessons are pre‑prepared to help students develop language and 21st‑century skills. You may use your own lesson plans, with significant planning time saved through repetition.
  • Teachers in Cirencester may also work with 7‑10‑year‑old students. If you have experience or teaching through performance, please mention this.
  • Residential teachers complete one educational excursion per week (10 hours). No pastoral duties or overnight duties.
Requirements
  • Degree* or relevant EFL teaching qualification and experience. Applicants without a degree but holding a relevant qualification may be considered.
  • TEFLi certificate (CELTA or Trinity Cert.), or TESOL (≥100 hours input + 6 hours supervised teaching), or PGCE English/Modern Languages with ELT/TESOL subsidiary, or University Certificate in ELT/TESOL.
  • Familiarity with Smart TVs or electronic whiteboards and PowerPoint.

Contract details

Contracts are 4 weeks with the possibility of an additional 2 weeks. Shorter contracts may be available upon inquiry. Staff training occurs 1 or 2 days before the centre start date.

Elac carries out DBS Enhanced Disclosure checks and requires Police Checks for non‑UK nationals or UK nationals working abroad. Employment is conditional on receipt of original certificates, identity documents, and satisfactory reference checks. Candidates barred from working with children must not apply.
