Job description
Subcontract Supply Chain Manager

Location: Canary Wharf or any UK office. Role is part of the Enabling Functions – Procurement team.

About The Role

The Group Subcontract Supply Chain Manager leads the strategic relationship management, development and integration of key subcontractors across the Group. Acting as the primary interface between Group Supply Chain Management and Strategic Business Units (SBUs), the role ensures subcontractor capabilities align with business needs and are embedded into project pipelines.

Regular travel to Balfour Beatty and subcontractor offices/sites is required.

Responsibilities
  • Strategy development – act as the strategic relationship lead for selected Group subcontractors, ensuring alignment with Group and BU priorities.
  • Lead integration of subcontractors into BU pipelines, supporting early engagement and capability promotion.
  • Facilitate regular business‑to‑business updates and performance review meetings with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Implement and manage the Triple A framework (Assessed, Assured and Aligned) to improve subcontractor performance across quality, safety, sustainability and commercial metrics.
  • Identify and escalate issues or opportunities where Group‑level intervention can support resolution or unlock value.
  • Promote subcontractor innovation, capability development and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with SBUs to embed subcontractor strategies in project delivery and procurement planning.
  • Monitor subcontractor capacity, performance trends and market developments to inform strategic planning.
  • Support development of subcontractor assurance and risk tiering processes with the wider supply chain team.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous supply chain management experience, leading supplier development or integration programmes.
  • Commodity materials category management experience ensuring best‑value procurement.
  • CIPS qualification or training in progress.
  • Procurement experience managing budgets up to £5 million.
  • Demonstrated process compliance and adherence to processes.
