Job description

There is a great opportunity to join our Structural Engineering Team in Manchester. We are looking for a structural engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience who is passionate about creative design and structural analysis, who is interested in complex structures and the challenges that come with them, and have strong digital engineering and modelling skills. You will be based in our multidisciplinary Manchester office and will be working with us on the design of some of the most exciting and prestigious projects.

The Role

As part of our team, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will be an important part a project team in delivering projects including the preparation of structural analysis models, detailed structural calculations, sketches and specifications. This will involve all common structural materials, less ordinary and experimental ones, and use of appropriate software.

You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills continue to develop, and as you work and are supported beyond Chartership.

The Skills
  • You’ll have worked in a similar role previously and have the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • You’ll have a deep understanding of structural analysis, finite element modelling and structural design. An understanding of structural engineering optimisation techniques would also be desirable
  • Being proficient in Tekla modelling is a requirement for this role
  • You are organised and methodical in your approach to managing your tasks and priorities, you strive to meet deadlines and have a close appreciation of the commercial factors which affect design solutions
  • Collaborative in nature, you’ll be able to empathise with your clients’ needs and utilise excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders. You’re used to using your initiative to overcome challenges and have a positive, can-do attitude.
