Overview:
Clear Wave Search is proud to be representing a well-established engineering consultancy in their search for an experienced Structural Engineer.


Successfully operating for over 30 years, they specialise in civil, structural, geotechnical, and environmental engineering for the property and energy markets across the UK.


The client offers cost-reducing advice to contractors and developers during early tendering stages and provides comprehensive engineering services to house builders.


They also have extensive experience in the energy sector including wind, substation, hydro, biomass, operational efficiency, and solar engineering.


The Role:
This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact public and social infrastructure projects across Scotland, including schools, hospitals, and substations, amongst others. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping robust and sustainable environments that serve communities and support critical services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the structural design and analysis of public and social infrastructure projects, including schools, hospitals, and utility substations.
  • Develop safe, sustainable, and cost-effective structural solutions in line with Eurocodes, British Standards, and HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) guidance where applicable.
  • Produce detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications using software such as Tekla, TEDDS, or Robot.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, MEP consultants, and civil engineers, to ensure integrated and compliant designs.
  • Conduct structural inspections and assessments of existing public buildings, advising on remedial works and structural upgrades.
  • Support the design of substation control buildings and enclosures, ensuring resilience and safety for critical infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical reports, design risk assessments, and method statements for planning and construction phases.
  • Attend site visits and stakeholder meetings, providing technical input and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal CPD and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree-qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (MEng or BEng minimum).
  • Chartered or working toward chartership with IStructE or ICE.
  • Demonstrable experience in structural design for public sector or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with UK building regulations, CDM 2015, and sector-specific standards (e.g. BB100 for schools, HTM for healthcare).
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Infraworks, Civils 3D, Tekla, Robot Skills.
