A local council in South West England is seeking a StreetScene Deputy Operations Manager to lead a proactive team across various public spaces. Join the East Devon District Council as StreetScene Deputy Operations Manager. This role involves leading Area Officers across parks, grounds, street cleansing, coastal defenses, public toilets, and community events across the Exmouth and Manstone depots. You will balance strategic planning, urgent problem‑solving, team support and community liaison to ensure the district’s public spaces look and feel great.
You hold an NVQ Level 4 in Leadership/Management (or equivalent experience) and a relevant Level 3 qualification. You have experience in high‑risk operational environments, ideally within environmental or public realm services. You are a confident, organised, calm‑under‑pressure leader, customer‑focused and ready to take ownership. A full driving licence and flexibility to respond to the unexpected are must‑haves.
StreetScene delivers visible and lasting impact on East Devon’s appearance and quality of life. Working closely with community partners (Green Flag, Britain in Bloom, Blue Flag) and supporting major local events such as Sidmouth Folk Week and Ottery St Mary Tar Barrels, the team operates seven days a week with a strong commitment to continuous learning and development.
