In this role you’ll be joining the Multi Skilled operation and be part of a vibrant team working with members in times of need. You will need to be flexible and agile but what’s important is that you want to get things right for our customers, our customers are made up of so many kinds of people, and we want our employees to be just as diverse.

Good teamwork is built into the way we do things so, even at home, you’ll have lots of support from friendly colleagues when you need it.

You will need to be adaptable to change and to work flexibly between 8am-8pm Monday to Sunday and accommodate the working patterns of the deployment team in which you will be working. For each new department you are deployed into there will be a training period of up to 5 weeks, no holiday will be permitted in this time. If this training is on-site at one of our National Admin Centres, expenses for travel and accommodation would be covered if this is not your assigned location.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, based at any of our UK Admin Centres in London, Bournemouth, Swindon, Northampton, Sheffield, Wakefield or Dunfermline.

Whilst these locations are where we are primarily looking to fill the role, if you’re an applicant based in a different location, we would welcome your application and if successful, you will be required to come into the office for team meetings and 1 to 1's with your manager a minimum of once a quarter.

Working in this way will ensure you feel supported, included, and connected, enabling us to thrive together, as well as stay close to the Society culture.

You must be based within a commutable distance to one of our Admin Centres or Branches, as in the event that you encounter technical issues we will require you to work from a Nationwide building, until your IT issues are resolved.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

As a Specialist Multi Skilled Consultant you will be responsible for undertaking a range of specialist and multi-layered tasks supporting members in times of need (i.e., financial hardship, bereavement, dissatisfaction, members who are a victim of fraud & vulnerable members who need Specialist Support). We’ll give you all the training you need to set you up for a successful journey.

The Operational area in which you are deployed could involve working in a telephony environment, administration-based environment, or a mix of both.

Your role will be agile, and you will be required to provide a high level of support wherever needed, undertaking different responsibilities dependent on the need of our members and business priorities.

You will need to be resilient and flexible as you will be required to adapt to changes and learn new processes at pace.

About you

As a minimum requirement you will have or be:

  • Considerable experience within a Financial Services role
  • Experience of evaluating and interpreting information and data to reach a conclusion
  • The ability to multitask through good planning and the organisational skills to manage and hold multiple competing priorities and deliverables
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and accuracy for both numerical and written material, including data and insight
  • Experience of collaborating with different business areas and colleagues whilst building good relationships
  • Adaptable to change and comfortable picking up new processes

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
  • Say it straight- We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
  • Push for better- We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
  • Get it done- We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes.

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
