Specialist Doctor, Child & Adult Psychiatry – CAMHS High Intensity Unit

Our inpatient CAMHS is expanding to include an 8‑bed High Intensity Environment/PICU opening in 2026 in Alumhurst Road, Bournemouth. This role offers a unique opportunity to join our dynamic team and advance your career in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Role Summary

As a Specialist Doctor, you will work alongside the Consultant and Consultant Nurse AC, providing assessment, treatment planning and day‑to‑day clinical care for patients with complex psychiatric presentations in the High Intensity Environment and Pebble Lodge General Adolescent Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct face‑to‑face assessments and develop treatment plans for patients aged up to 18.
  • Meet families and community staff, review records and write clinical reports.
  • Participate in tribunal work, daily ward meetings with staff and CPA, and discharge planning.
  • Work under the supervision of Consultant psychiatrists and the Consultant Nurse AC.
  • Maintain Section 12(2) status and be an Approved Clinician.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Specialist Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Experience working with children, young people and complex psychiatric cases.
  • Ability to work within a high‑intensity inpatient environment and in partnership with multidisciplinary teams.
