A leading energy company in the UK seeks a Solution Architect to develop and maintain architectural roadmaps. In this role, you’ll ensure projects align with business goals and implement innovative solutions. Candidates must have experience in cloud-native contexts and strong stakeholder engagement skills. A flexible working arrangement is available alongside competitive benefits, including a £75,000 starting salary and a 5% bonus.
Do you have a future facing mindset when it comes to technology and solutions?
Are you a strong team player that likes to make change initiatives happen as well as driving future solution thinking?
If so, at EDF we’re looking for a Solution Architect to join our team and help shape our architectural landscape. In this role, you will play a vital part in how we deliver and improve our business solutions.
The Opportunity…
As a Solution Architect, you will work within a team of Solution Architects covering the broad scope of the Customer’s business units within EDF.
With a business domain specialism, you will own the technology roadmap for that specialism across customers, engaging with business stakeholders to understand strategic intent and stay curious about overall technology and competitor market trends to recommend solutions.
You’ll be a key member of delivery activities in addition to the strategic roadmap responsibilities, defining end‑to‑end solutions and ensuring delivery initiatives meet architectural principles and guardrails.
Salary starts from £75,000 depending on experience, with a potential 5% bonus, 28 days of annual leave plus bank holidays and a market‑leading pension scheme.
A range of flexible benefits supports our people across all aspects of life, including electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts and employee pricing.
Flexible working allows you to work from home if you wish; we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment so you can work remotely comfortably and effectively. This role requires travel to some of our offices across the UK as and when required.
Alan from our Solutions and Architecture team says: "Being a Solutions Architect is fantastic. The role has a broad scope for curious, creative thinking and there is plenty of opportunity for personal development. The team is really supportive and knowledgeable, which helped me feel welcome and enthusiastic from day one. We work with a wide variety of teams across customers to help them develop and shape their technology and seeing the positive impact this can have is really rewarding."
At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and can be themselves. We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and seek an equal gender balance and a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.
We’re looking for someone with proven experience of developing and maintaining solution roadmaps to support business capabilities. You’ll be able to deliver architectural design and delivery activities and oversight throughout the delivery lifecycle and will also have proven experience of presenting to and influencing senior operational stakeholders on solutioning and solution choices.
You will need to be proactive and able to engage with stakeholders at all levels to describe technology concepts and capabilities in business value terms. You’ll be curious, creative and have a mindset that enjoys continual learning and sharing experience.
You’ll have experience of working on multiple initiatives in parallel and making in‑line prioritisation choices. Experience of defining architectural designs within an AWS native and SaaS construct would also be desirable.
If you have experience of architecting in a cloud native context, then we’d love to hear from you!
