Job description

Broadfield UK (formerly BDB Pitmans) is a law firm that serves mid-market clients, with deep expertise in multiple practice areas and a strong commitment to client service. As trusted advisors in navigating the complexities of law, the Broadfield team is comprised of entrepreneurial experts and leaders who provide legal strategies and solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. With offices in London, Cambridge, Reading, and Southampton, Broadfield UK has a team of over 420 experts dedicated to building lasting client relationships grounded in trust and integrity. In 2024, Broadfield UK became the founding member firm of Broadfield.

The team

Our Corporate & Commercial team works across all sectors on a variety of corporate transactions and non-transactional corporate matters. They advise UK and international clients, including start-ups/scale-ups, SMEs, institutionally owned companies, international/global clients, and listed companies. Many team members have come from large city firms, and while the quality of work is comparable, the culture within the team is friendly and collegiate.

The structure of the team means this role is ideal for someone eager to progress rapidly within a sizeable firm, who is ambitious and a technically strong operator.

The opportunity

This role involves working in the corporate team, assisting and advising on all aspects of company law, private company mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, MBOs and MBIs, joint ventures, investor/shareholders’ agreements, articles of association, demergers, company reconstructions, and reorganisations. Additionally, there are opportunities to be involved with AIM flotations, takeovers, public company work, commercial lending and security, financing, and refinancing of businesses.

The team acts for acquirers, private equity and VCT funds, founders/sellers, management teams, and funders. The team has historically been involved in prominent deals in the Solent and Thames Valley regions. This role is suitable for candidates relocating to the region, ambitious practitioners looking to move laterally from larger firms, or capable candidates interested in working on larger transactions within a bigger firm.

This position is suitable for someone who enjoys working within a high-performing, close-knit team on larger transactions but also values autonomy in leading other transactions.
