We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager with Azure Cloud experience to lead the software team of our connected energy storage system business. You will lead our software and data science team s and will be responsible for the design, architecture, review and management of our IoT infrastructure and cloud services.

The Role

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager with Azure Cloud experience to lead the software team of our connected e nergy s torage s ystems business . The successful candidate will lead our software and data science team s and will be responsible for the design, architecture, review and management of our IoT infrastructure and cloud service . This role is based at our head office in Oxford in the UK .

Job Overview and responsibilities

Brill Power develops innovative software and hardware for battery system and energy management. The technology development led/overseen by the successful Software Engineering Manager candidate includes:

  • Azure cloud platform which hosts our internal and customer facing cloud services
  • External user interfaces for ourcloud services (web UIs, APIs, apps)
  • IoT infrastructure fordata acquisition andcommunicationwith/betweenbattery energy storage systems, battery analytics and energy management software and algorithms
  • Data pipelines and management

The person who joins us as Software Engineering Manager will define the requirements , approve code, communicate performance, and lead the team responsible for Brill Power’s IoT infrastructure and cloud services , with a strong focus on data and cyber security, scalability, and performance . They will lead and coordinate with our in-house experts in battery systems and data science, and work closely with our parent company’s international technical teams .

Responsibilities Include

  • Collaborationand Communication: Leading/working withinternal and external software teams,battery&data experts,and business teams.
  • Data & CyberSecurity: Data and cyber security across our entire software portfolio. This includessecure device onboarding, data transmission& management,userauthenticationand platform compliance.
  • ExternalInterfaces: Overseeingthe development ofinterfaces for ourcloud services, including web UI,APIsand apps.
  • Data Management: Guiding and overseeing the implementation of data ingestion, storage, and processing strategies for large-scale IoT data, and data analytics algorithms for battery and energy systems.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Maintainingsystem reliability, performance, and resolving connectivity issues.
  • Team Dynamics: Maintaininga positive and productive atmosphere within the team.
Skills and Experience
Successful candidates will have experience with the following:
  • Track record of successfully delivering andmaintainingcustomer-facingcloud-based software products.
  • Management & Leadership : Experience leading projects, code bases, and managing people
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years’ experience working in this field
  • Data & Cyber security: Experience in applying best practices in data and cyber security, ideally including experience in implementing or applying ISO 27001
  • Cloud: Strong experience in Azure Cloud services ( IoT Hub , AKS, etc .)
  • Programming languages: Knowledge of C # and ideally Python
  • Methodology : Experience with modern software development and devops methodologies (CI/CD, Flux, Terraform ) and willingness to champion their adoption by the team
  • Communication : Excellent communication skill and able to discuss complex technical issues to other members of the team

  • Pragmatic; comfortable with ambiguity and changing requirement
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Comfortable working in a small team with a diverse range of responsibilities
