Are you a dedicated Social Worker with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives? We are seeking an Advanced Social Worker (Childrens) to join our Exeter & East Devon team. This is an exciting contract opportunity offering up to £42 per hour LTD inclusive of holiday pay or £32.59 per hour exclusive of holiday pay depending on experience. About the Role – Advanced Social Worker (Childrens)

As an Advanced Social Worker (Childrens), you will play a pivotal role in supporting children looked after and those in care, working closely with the Team Manager to lead the team in delivering exceptional services. Your responsibilities include providing supervision and mentoring to colleagues, managing complex cases, and ensuring high standards of practice within a fast‑paced environment. Your expertise will help shape positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

This role involves managing a smaller caseload to allow focus on complex and challenging cases. You will be a role model for best practice, sharing your knowledge, supporting colleagues and students, and contributing to continuous team improvement. The position is based at County Hall, Exeter, offering a flexible hybrid working model with a blend of office and home‑based working, covering duty 4‑5 days per month as required.

Candidate Responsibilities – Advanced Social Worker (Childrens)
  • Lead and support a team of social workers, providing supervision, mentoring, and guidance
  • Manage complex cases for children looked after and those in care
  • Conduct in‑depth assessments and contribute to court proceedings
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies
  • Collaborate with multi‑agency teams to deliver holistic support
  • Challenge and lead improvements in practice to enhance service quality
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory requirements
  • Drive continuous professional development within the team
Candidate Requirements – Advanced Social Worker (Childrens)
  • Recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  • Minimum of 3 years post‑qualifying experience (PQE) in children’s social care
  • Proven experience in multi‑agency working and court proceedings
  • Strong communication, planning, and recording skills
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to best practice
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Contract length: 3 months, with possible extension
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
Hybrid working model: mixture of office and home‑based work
