Overview

Enfield Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join our Assessment & Intervention Team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is based in Enfield Town, in a refurbished open-plan office designed to support our smart working policy. The office is located amid a busy high street, shopping centre, and a variety of small businesses, bars, and restaurants. Excellent transport links to Central London and easy access via the M25, A10, and A406 make the location highly accessible.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in Child in Need planning meetings.
  • Develop, implement, and review Child in Need care plans in line with legislative requirements.
  • Identify and coordinate resources and services to achieve planned outcomes within agreed timescales.
  • Assess developmental needs and progress of the child, ensuring outcomes are met.
  • Maintain accurate case records, including six-weekly visit notes and both announced and unannounced visits.
  • Work with children and families under supervision orders, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
  • Ensure child protection and looked after children processes are in place.
  • Seek legal advice for extension of supervision orders or care orders as needed.

Child Protection:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including Core Assessments, pre-birth assessments, and risk assessments.
  • Perform Section 47 Child Protection investigations and joint investigations with the police.
  • Write and submit statements, Section 7, and Section 37 reports for court proceedings, representing the authority and providing evidence as required.
  • Implement and review Care Plans, including supervision of contact between children and families.
  • Convene and chair core group meetings, write case conference reports, and attend case conferences and strategy meetings.
  • Liaise with other professionals to ensure coordinated and effective child protection efforts.
  • Initiate and manage care proceedings, ensuring compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
  • Conduct home visits for monitoring and safeguarding, maintaining thorough and up-to-date case recordings.

Requirements:

  • A recognised Social Work Qualification.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and commitment to continual professional development.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
