About the role - Skilled Engineer

Do you want to be part of our energetic team of HGV/PSV/bus mechanical engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses? If yes, then this Skilled Engineer position at our Norwich depot could just be the job for you! It offers technical up‑skilling and career progression. We'll provide your overalls and all the basic tools and equipment needed for you to be successful in your role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using hand‑held data capture devices if applicable
• Vehicle fault diagnostics, servicing and repairs in accordance with FirstBus Standard Engineering Operating Procedures
• To fully comply with all HS&E legislation along with Group Policies
• To fully comply with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain and develop technical skills as required

39 per week, 5 days out of 7 on a rota including weekends (shifts can be discussed at interview)

Hourly Rate

£19.73 p/h £40,012 p/a - weekend premium of £20.73 p/h plus two pay increases planned for 2026

For helping keep our fleet on the road, you'll earn a good hourly pay rate and great rewards & benefits (see below), if you have a PCV licence you would also be entitled to an additional 20p per hour from day 1. We also offer additional training which leads to additional pay. This effectively could increase your salary by up to £5k once 10 training modules are completed. Each module you complete increases your hourly wage by 20p an hour.

About you

• A minimum Level 3 NVQ standard of equivalent (i.e. City & Guilds Level 1&2)
• Ability to multi‑skill within an Engineering Environment
• A flexible approach to working hours
• A PCV licence is desirable, a full driving licence is essential
