We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to manufacture precision aircraft components using advanced 3, 5 and 6‑axis CNC machining centers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC machines to produce high‑quality aerospace parts in compliance with engineering drawings, working to tight tolerances and industry standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor 3, 5 and 6 axis CNC machines to manufacture precision aircraft components
  • Responsible for machining components to specification and customer requirements using detailed drawings and layouts which requires a degree of concentration
  • Ensure tooling is fit for purpose and it is their responsibility to advise on or change them when necessary
  • Responsible for maintaining the metal working fluid levels and disposing of them as per company guidelines
  • Responsible for setting up the correct tools and components according to approved layouts and loading the correct programme into the machine. A high level of concentration and attention to detail is required as errors may result in poor quality, reprocessing and scrap at a cost to the business
  • Responsible for reporting all component / machine non‑conformances using the appropriate forms to the Team Leader or Quality Inspector
  • To be competent in completing new product introduction on machines proving out (with engineering)
  • To ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated
  • Inspect parts to confirm conformity to the approved check sheets and ensure job card adherence so parts are made to customer specification
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by actively practicing 6S standards at all times
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard
  • Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
  • Identify and report safety hazards, quality issues, and process deviations, and participate in corrective and preventive actions to support continuous improvement
  • Minimize scrap, rework, and machine downtime by following standardized work, preventive maintenance routines, and cost‑control initiatives aligned with SQCDP goals
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes, tooling, and cycle times while maintaining on‑time delivery performance
  • Accurately document production data, inspection results, and nonconformance information to support traceability and audit requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including kaizen activities and root cause analysis, to enhance safety, quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance
  • Responsible for conducting PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) checks on Machine
  • Undertake necessary training both in line with company policy and on the job
  • Other reasonable requests may be asked
Position Requirements
Essential Criteria:
  • NVQ level 3 Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering CNC Machining or equivalent
  • Must have 2 years minimum experience on 3 and 5 axis CNC machines
  • Able to identify components and select the correct tooling/jigging media and carry out a given operation in the routing in compliance with the engineering drawings and to the correct tolerances
  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, plug gauges)
  • GCSE or equivalent including maths & English
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to read and understand customer specifications, drawings and visual aids.
  • This role requires you to be able to lift parts on to machine fixtures up to 10kg
