Sexual Offence Examiner – Teesside/Durham SARC – 24–32 Hrs

Location: The Teesside SARC, Middlesborough T23 6AL and The Meadows SARC, Durham, DH3 3UA

May be required to work regionally at Northumbria SARC

Salary: £41,566.01 FTE based on 40 hours per week (£19.93 per hour)

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
  • Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
  • Develop forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
  • Actively work in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
  • First point of contact for victims, Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.Manage and promote the self‑referral pathway.
  • Undertake holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
  • Produce individual management plans.
  • Support the continued quality improvement of the service.
  • Work under Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
  • Obtain consent for Health and Forensic procedures.
Essential Skills
  • Qualified Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Paramedic.
  • Minimum 3 years of post‑qualification experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
  • Experience of autonomous working.

Job responsibilities and working patterns

Hours available: 24 to 32 hours per week, 8‑hour shifts.

Shift working covering 24/7/365: 9 am‑5 pm; 5 pm‑1 am; 1 am‑9 am; 5‑1 and 1‑9 shifts will be on call, as will weekend 9‑5 shifts unless required on site (monthly deep cleans, training, etc).
